Wish You Were Here 50 offre ai fan una nuova prospettiva entusiasmante su uno dei dischi più iconici e amati dei Pink Floyd. L’edizione per il 50° anniversario include più dischi di rarità – al centro di questa collezione speciale ci sono sei versioni alternative e demo inedite, che presentano l’ottavo album in studio dei Pink Floyd in una veste completamente nuova, capace di conquistare con ogni ascolto.
Il cofanetto include un Blu-ray con un mix in Dolby Atmos realizzato per la prima volta da James Guthrie, oltre a 25 tracce bonus: nove rarità in studio e sedici registrazioni live catturate dal celebre bootlegger Mike Millard durante il concerto dei Pink Floyd alla Los Angeles Sports Arena il 26 aprile 1975, ora pubblicate ufficialmente per la prima volta. L’audio live è stato restaurato e rimasterizzato meticolosamente da Steven Wilson. Il Blu-ray offre anche la possibilità di vedere tre filmati da schermo utilizzati durante il tour del 1975, oltre a un cortometraggio di Storm Thorgerson.
I 2 CD e i 4 LP (in esclusivo vinile trasparente) includono l’album originale più nove bonus track in studio. Esclusivo di questo cofanetto è il quarto LP, Live At Wembley 1974, oltre a una replica del singolo giapponese 7” di Have A Cigar con Welcome To The Machine sul lato B, un libro cartonato con fotografie mai viste prima, un fumetto del tour e il poster di Knebworth.
Con brani come Shine On You Crazy Diamond, l’ipnotico Welcome To The Machine, il pungente Have a Cigar e l’immancabile title track Wish You Were Here, questo disco è senza dubbio una delle uscite più importanti nella storia della musica popolare.
